February 22, 2016 at 12:00 a KING was born; Jordan Kingsley Sanders entered this world in true “Jordan” fashion---fiesty as ever. I would first like to thank everyone (this sounds like a speech) for the calls, texts, cards, and most importantly prayers. I was on a natural high yesterday (this was written the day after his bday) and I know it was only because of your thoughts and prayers; thank you!
Last year lots of people asked if we were doing anything to celebrate Jordan’s first birthday. I honestly didn’t know what to say because I didn’t feel like it was much to celebrate. Birthdays are a celebration of life…so what are we supposed to do? This year, with one text from my sister, I changed my mindset. She challenged us to celebrate Jordan’s life; no matter how short it may have been! After reading that text I truly felt uplifted and ready to celebrate our sweet boy. As I’ve said many times before, Jordan lived a full life. He may have only been on this Earth for 8 months, but he lived his best life and he certainly impacted many…THAT is to be celebrated! So, yesterday was a good day. I went grocery shopping and ended up at the bakery. I could not choose a cake for the life of me! Joey left it to me and I couldn’t decide so I had to call my mom and she literally had to tell me exactly what to get (haha---such a mama’s baby). I think it’s safe to say…I just wanted it to be perfect. So, here’s the cake. Isn’t it great?! I thought it was cute, small and perfect for us. I’m still so happy because I felt like such a mom picking out cakes and candles.
After dinner we lit the candle, sang happy birthday and cut the cake…..oh then we went to sleep…just like 2 tired parents haha. Needless to say, it was a great day. We are so thankful to all of you for your support. I can’t even begin to tell you just how much it means; to know that YOU remembered our sweet boy’s birthday and that you took time out of your day to call, text and send sweet messages. We miss Jordan so much, but we will (and we encourage you) to celebrate his life. Jordan impacted so many lives and his legacy lives on through our work with the NICU and Batson Children’s Hospital. We are so honored to be his parents and we thank God for the memories we now carry in our hearts.
All our love,
Joey and NaToya
